Brisbane Powerhouse is a magnificent power station of the 1920s reborn as an arts centre on the Brisbane River.
The building was once a working power station which powered the city from the 1920s to the 1970s. Left abandoned, the city’s artists, rebels and fringe-dwellers used the building as a performance space, home and underground hang-out.
Today more than 700,000 visitors annually visit to see 1250+ performances at Brisbane Powerhouse. The building boasts two main stage theatres seating up to 740 and 200 people respectively, and three additional venues that seat 80–180. Brisbane Powerhouse features gallery spaces, two restaurants and bars, corporate facilities and the best river view in Brisbane.
Brisbane Powerhouse offers a year-round program featuring events across music, comedy, writers + ideas, dance, film, visual arts, digital arts, theatre and music theatre. For a full schedule of events see Brisbane Powerhouse
